built from a
horse float
KaarnaSauna began as a hand-built mobile sauna, crafted by Mikku from Finland and Flo from Germany. Together they converted an old horse float into a traditional Finnish wood-burning sauna — built from natural materials and heated with local wood from fallen trees.
Growing up amidst European sauna culture, they knew the Margaret River region would benefit from having a traditional Finnish sauna. The stunning southwest of Australia — rough, gentle, moody, blessed with sun — lends itself perfectly to the sauna experience.
At its core, KaarnaSauna was created to cherish life, face challenges, and build a unified community. What happens inside the humble sauna has a tangible ripple effect on the whole world.
"In the warm and dark embrace of the sauna, people become calm and sensitized, they open up and even talk about difficult matters to those near and dear."
